Maxine Margaret Hill (Ilsley), 91 years, of Wolfville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 12, 2012 at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville. Born in Weston, NS, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Ilsley and Evelyn Skinner of Berwick, NS. Left to mourn is her husband of 64 years Kenneth Hill (Wolfville), two children, Pamela Pike (Jeff) Calgary and Peter (Rhonda) Ottawa and four grandchildren Jason and Ryan (Calgary) and Allyson (Kingston) and Robert (Montreal). In addition, she leaves her brother Stephen Ilsley (Berwick), two nephews Preston (Berwick) and George (Vancouver) and relatives (Judith, Penny, Sarah, Alastair) and their families, as well as close friends the Gill-Carey family, all residing in England. Maxine was a 1943 graduate of the Halifax Children's Hospital with special friends Ruby Long (Boston) and Kay Maclnnes (Sydney) among others. She continued her nursing career periodically throughout her life. For more than 50 years, she was an active member of the IODE in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Among her many interests, she was a lover of animals. She was a member of the Canadian Kennel Club and showed some of her favourite dogs and was a contributor to the Wolfville Christmas bird count for many years. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and the many children and friends that she touched over the years.
Cremation has taken place. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Andrew MacRae officiating. Burial will take place in the Berwick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville (www.vrhfoundation.ca).
