Leah Evangeline Burrell - 86, of Kingsport, Kings County, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Mary (Greenough) Gammon. In addition to being a homemaker, Leah and her husband, Doug, operated a grocery store and post office in Kingsport. She is survived by her husband and life partner of 65 years, Douglas “Doug”; a daughter, Marilyn Burrell, Sackville, New Brunswick; a son, Carl (Irene), Kingsport; four grandchildren, Bridget Burrell, Newport Beach, California; Jillian Burrell, Halifax; Jason (Krista Patriquin) Foote, Beaverbank; Tiffany (Noel) Jull, New Dundee, Ontario; two great grandchildren, Grace and Patrick Jull; a sister-in-law, Carrie (Burrell) Carty, Meaford, Ontario; a special friend and important part of the family, Janice MacLean, Sackville, New Brunswick; several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred (Eric) Rand and Ruth (Charlie) Hawboldt; a sister, Jessie, in infancy; two brothers, Ben (Margaret) Gammon and Louis (Evelyn) Gammon; a brother, Hubert, in infancy. Leah considered herself deeply blessed in her life. Her family was her greatest joy and all who came to her home were embraced with warmth and hospitality. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Emanuel United Church, Kingsport, Reverend Michael Veenema and Reverend Janice MacLean officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Habitant Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request.
