It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister Hedwig Gross. She passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw on May 12, 2012 with her family at her side. Hedwig was born at Bayard, SK on January 29, 1936 and resided there until moving to Moose Jaw in 1979. She was predeceased by her parents George and Caroline, her husband Adolph Gross; brothers Zack, Otto, Martin; and sister Irene. She is survived by her sons Barry (Karen), and Blaine (Sherri) – all of Avonlea; grandchildren: Kyle (Christy) – Didsbury, AB, Brandon – Moose Jaw, Levi (Mellisa) – Briercrest; great-grandchildren: Teagan – Didsbury, AB, and Jayda – Moose Jaw; brothers: Sigmund, Joe, Leonard, Wilfred, and Marvin; sisters: Elsie and Betty; numerous nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law. Hedy, as she was known, enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking goodies for them and don’t forget the perogies! She moved to High Park Towers in May of 2008 and enjoyed going downstairs to play cards, call bingo, or participate in any other activity that was going on. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, but we all know she is resting peacefully in a better place. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. N.W., on Thursday May 17, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Father Louis Kim Nguyen will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. For those so wishing, memorial donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Hedy, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
