It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Joseph Richard age 68 of Amherst on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born April 25, 1944 in River Hebert, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Oral and Roseann (Landry) Richard.
David held several jobs over the years, such as working on the boats in Ontario, the coal mine in River Hebert, Casey’s Concrete and lastly the Wandlynn Inn in Amherst.
He was a faithful member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in River Hebert.
David will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife the former, Audrey Collins; daughter, Rose (Doug Meekins) Richard, Five Island; son, Doug, Tidnish; step children, Alfred (Kris), Peterborough ON, and Karen (Kevin Brooks) Collins, Sackville NB; brothers, Ronald (Helen), Hamilton ON, and Bernell (Sheila), River Hebert; sister, Deloris MacNeil, Lower Sackville NS; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; aunt, Kathleen (Henry) Burbine, Godrich ON; brother in law, Doug Wolfe, Halifax NS; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Matthew and sister, Melissa Wolfe.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with parish prayers at 8pm, all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in River Hebert with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
Interment will take place in the St. Denis Cemetery in Minudie followed by a reception at the church hall.
