Dorothy Mae Jewer, a resident of MacGillivray Guest Home, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
Born in Burin, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late George and Amy (Bishop) Manning.
Dorothy was a member of the Salvation Army Sydney Community Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Lillian (Don) Bursey, Ottawa, Amy (Ira) Barrow, St. John’s, Nfld., Audrey (Jim) Dean, Sydney, Karen (John) White, London, Ont., Dale (Neil) Lewis, Kitchener, Ont., Robin (Gerry) Cory, Toronto, Ont.; her sons, Henry (Judy), El Mira, Ont., Earl (Carol), Lincoln, N.B., Lorne (Edith), Toronto, Ont. and Wilfred, New Jersey. She is also survived by her brother, George and family in New Jersey. She will be greatly missed by her 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; her nieces, Ruby, Heather and Nina.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Henry; sisters, Edna, Lillian and Eva; brothers, John, Archie and Earl.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Salvation Army Sydney Community Church on Thursday at 2 p.m., with Major Dan Roode officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
