Pauline Clara Cole

Cole, Pauline Clara - 88, of Truro passed away peacefully May 19, 2012 in her home at Cedarstone Enhanced Care in Truro. Born in Amherst, Cumberland County, long-time resident of Tatamagouche and North River, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Arthur and Edith Amelia (Barkhouse) Canton. Prior to her marriage to husband Lorne she resided in Amherst where she received her education and was a graduate of St. Charles Business College. She was a member of Christ Church (Anglican) and became an active member of Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche, after her marriage. During her early married life, she resided in Tatamagouche, where she raised a family and worked with her husband, Lorne, operating Cole’s Transfer. She moved to North River in the early 1970s with her family. She dedicated her life to her husband and family. Pauline is survived by her children Loreen (George W.) MacNutt, Truro Heights; Fred (Richard Corteel), Malagash; Kim (Lynn MacKinnon), Bible Hill; sisters Phyllis Powell, Montreal; Faye Glenen (Ralph), Stellarton; her brothers Fred Canton (Joyce), Truro; Douglas (Gerrie), Burnaby, B.C.; Donald Canton (Phyllis), Amherst; Kenneth Canton (Judy), Amherst; sister-in-law Gertie Canton, Amherst, several nieces and nephews; grandchildren Peter MacNutt (Kim), Valley; Patti Barkhouse (Doug), Lower Onslow; Danny MacNutt (Becky), Onslow Mountain; Justin and Jeremy Cole, Bible Hill; great-grandchildren Kayla and Jenna MacNutt, Morgan and Cole Barkhouse and Nathaniel MacNutt. Grammie was looking forward to the birth of her next great-grandchild (Danny & Becky) due in August. She will be the guardian angel watching over her grandchildren. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Lorne, sister Francis and brothers Gordon, George, Bert and William. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, May 24th at 2 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. A private family interment will take place in Lockerby Cemetery, in Tatamagouche. Family flowers only. Donations in Pauline’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
