It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Ross McDonald on May 20, 2012. After a battle with pancreatic cancer. Ross passed peacefully at Harbourstone Care Facility, Sydney.
He leaves behind his wife, Patricia (Bates), after 60 years of marriage.
In his youth Ross was a veteran of the Second World War and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He spent most of his life in the real estate business. After his retirement both Ross and Pat spent many years living between Oakville and Florida before returning home to Cape Breton.
Ross was predeceased by his parents, W.J. and Elizabeth (Gillis) MacDonald, New Waterford; brothers, Alex, Brantford, Duncan, New Waterford, Frank, Sydney, Steve, Brantford, Gordon, (infancy), New Waterford; sisters, Bernice Kanary, Toronto and Anna Mary (infancy), New Waterford. Surviving are his brother, Sylvester, Sydney; sisters, Isabelle Muise, Boston, Mass., Noreen Slaney, Ben Eoin and Joan Hollohan, Edmonton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ross has been cremated and his ashes are to be spread in a private ceremony in Catalone, Cape Breton.
