With great sadness we announce the passing of Sadie Elizabeth Roland, age 80, of Alder Point. Sadie passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Northside Community Guest Home, surrounded by her loving and dedicated family.
She was born in North Sydney, daughter of the late Jane and George Bungay.
She was a devoted member of the Saint Anne’s Church, Alder Point.
In life, Sadie was a quiet, very patient, loving mother, and a kind-hearted, giving person to anyone needing a hand. One of her greatest joys in life was cooking family meals and baking her favourite pies and squares for her many family and friends.
Sadie will be greatly missed be her 10 children, Ronnie (Lisa), Gloria Jessome (Bill), Susie Alders (Gary), Karmie Steele (Harvey), Gary (Cindy), Cathy Spikes (John), Reg (Marie), Kevin (Kate), Roseann (Dwayne), Jennifer Roland Buffett (Trevor). Also survived by 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Sadie is also survived by her two sisters, Mary (Mim) Stubbert and Joyce Mulley, as well as two brothers, George and Reg Bungay.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, James (Buddy) Roland, as well as her brothers, Creigh, Bill, Murray, Clyde, Leo and sisters, Sue, Cavell and Vera. As well as two infant sons, Richard and James.
Visitation for Sadie Roland will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A funeral mass to celebrate Sadie’s life will be held Friday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anne’s Church, Alder Point, with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or.
