Olézine Arsenault

ARSENAULT, OLÉZINE - 1918 – 2012 - It’s with saddened hearts that the family of Olézine M. (Robichaud) Arsenault, 93, of Moncton, announces her passing on Friday, May 25, 2012. A native of La Baie de Petit Pokemouche, she was the second of eight children of the late Bazilide and Julie Robichaud. On July 19, 1939, she married Benoit H. Arsenault and they had 10 children, including five daughters, namely Zita Doiron (Raymond), Helen McKinley (Robert), Huberte Deveau (late Damien), Martha Maillet (Alcide), Gracia Doucette (Alex), all of Moncton; and five sons, namely, Léonard (Bertha) of Fredericton, Alvin (Thérèse), Clarence (Alice), Aldège and Raymond (Shelley), all of Moncton. She was a person of faith with a big heart who dearly loved her husband, parents, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sewing and preparing special meals from recipes she learned in her youth. We will forever remember the meat pies, the poutines, the rappie pies, and the rolls stuffed with lobster. She enjoyed knitting mittens, socks, toques, etc. and quilting blankets and giving these to those she loved and those in need. Her 26 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren will forever remember her smiling, welcoming face that loved them so dearly and took great pleasure in giving them gifts of mittens, socks, toques, quilted blankets and especially sliding candies and money in their little hands. Over the years, she participated in a number of organizations associated with her beloved parish Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. More recently, she especially enjoyed being a member of the Club d’Age d’Or of her parish. In addition to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, she leaves behind her sister, Elizabeth Haché of Fredericton (formerly of Bathurst) and two brothers, Jules Robichaud (Lilianne) of La Baie de Petit Pokemouche and Gaspard Robichaud (Elodie) of Toronto, ON; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Benoit Arsenault (1973); her son-in-law, Damien Deveau (1998); her sisters, Hélène (CSCM) of Joliette, QC, Phobée and her husband, Alban Cormier of Toronto, ON, Antoinette and her husband, Freddy Robichaud of Shippagan and Zita of Shippagan.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Notre-Dame- de-Grâce Roman Catholic Church on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 10:30 am, Rev. Jean-Guy Dallaire officiating. Reception in the Club d’Age d’Or following the Mass. Interment, Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. Donations to the NB Lung Association, the IWK (Celiac or Brain Tumour Clinics) or to any charitable organization of the donor’s choice will be appreciated. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Josée Poitras for her compassionate care over the years, as well as to the personnel of the Oasis D’or Special Care Home and especially to Dr. M. Crawford and Nursing Staff of 4A at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital for the love and care given to our mother during her illness.
