Leon LeBlanc
LeBLANC, LEON EMILE JOSEPH - Leon Emile Joseph LeBlanc of Saint John, husband of the late Ida Mary LeBlanc passed away at St. John-St. Stephen Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family on May 29, 2012. Born in Saint John, February of 1922 to the late Onesime “Jim” and Melina LeBlanc. In earlier years Leon worked for Chitticks, then moved to the United States in the 60’s and worked for ITT running wires for the Space Program. After returning to New Brunswick he was the beloved Pocologan bus driver, owned and operated Lee’s Towing and worked for Canada Post as a mail courier for the Lepreau and Maces Bay Area. A member of St. Roses de Lima Catholic Church, KOC 6770, 4th Degree Knight, member of the RCL #69 and Randolph Seniors Club. Leon was a devoted husband, father, papère, great-papère, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his daughters Eva M. Mears (Timothy) and Jane M. Tarr (Donald) both of Massachusetts; adopted son Reggie D. LeBlanc; devoted brother Edward LeBlanc of Saint John; papère to Paula (Gallant) Hawkins (Bob) of Saint John, Denise Von Rosenvinge, Jerry Mears, Leon Mears, Kelly Binard, Heather Dancause, Don Tarr and Megan Tarr all of Massachusetts; nine great-grandchildren including Evan Cosgrove of Saint John; several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents and his loving wife Ida, Leon was predeceased by two sons Leon Jr. and Stanley; sister Lena Bastarache brothers Michael, Ernest, Francis and Stanley.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road with visitations on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Knights of Columbus Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose de Lima Church, 541 Milford Road, Saint John West on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
