Margaret Hartson
PICTOU – Margaret Theresa (Avery) Hartson, 68, of Pictou, passed away peacefully May 29, 2012 in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born June 23, 1943 in Larry’s River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie Avery.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Andre), CFB Gagetown, NB; grandsons, Nicholas and Alec and granddaughter, Erica; her much loved brothers: Willard (Sharon), Leslie (Debbie), both of Pictou; Norbert, Montreal; Neil (Sandy), Richmond, BC; her beloved nieces, Dawn and Denise (Jarret) and nephew, Darryl (Heidi) and their children.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter, Cindy.
Margaret was a dedicated member of Stella Maris Parish, and a member of the CWL for many years. You could always find her cutting grass and looking after the parish cemetery, then heading to the church to prepare for daily mass. She was a die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan. Margaret had a big heart and lots of energy for all who needed her help. She knew everyone in Pictou and everyone knew her.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today (Thursday) in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will take place 11 a.m. Friday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating.
Cremation will follow with burial at a later date in the parish cemetery.
