Priscilla Irene “Bea” Sampson, 68 of Panuke Road, Three Mile Plains, Hants County, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the V.G. Site, Q.E. II, Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 12, 1944, in Windsor, Hants County,l Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Eleanor (Sampson) States. Bea was a hard worker from the age of 16. She was a tireless, loyal and dedicated employee of Kings Edgehill School where she worked for 13 years, retiring in 2006 to be with Ches, who needed her at home. At times in her life she was a homemaker, raising her children, and doing whatever necessary to keep her home clean and in order. Bea lived a simple life and for the most part enjoyed spending time at home with family and friends. For those who were fortunate and blessed to share in her journey of life, one could not know Bea without experiencing her love of music. She was gifted and talented in both voice and dance. Other times she enjoyed dressing up “pretty”, sociables, cards, bingo, annual washer toss and Apple Blossom gatherings. She is survived by daughters, Annette (Ernie) Johnson, Brampton, Ontario; Lesa Sampson, Windsor; Verna Sampson (Danny), Coldbrook; “other daughter”, Cassandra Sampson, Windsor; sisters, Donna Sampson and Delphina Upshaw, both of Windsor; grandchildren, Tristan Sampson, Cherrelle Sampson, Andrew Upshaw, Shawndel Sampson, Marissa Wilson and Dylan Johnson; great grandaughter, Kylee Upshaw; aunts, Melda Sampson and Paula Atwell (who were more like sisters); several nieces and nephews. Besides parents, she was predeceased by common-law husband, Chester “Ches” Upshaw; brother, Douglas “Bunny” Sampson; sister, Fowncess “Tunky” Sampson; grandson, Catlin Upshaw; brother-in-law, Gilbert Upshaw. Visitation was 7–9 pm, Thursday, May 24, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 pm, Friday, May 25, 2012, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jennifer Riley officiated, followed by interment in Maplewood Cemetery, King Street, Windsor. A reception was in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bea were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Windsor Plains United Baptist Church.
