JEFFREY: James Wylie Jeffrey age 89 years, of Swift Current, SK passed away May 26, 2012 at the Herbert & District Integrated Health Facility, Herbert, SK. The funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 1, 2012 from Grace United Church, Swift Current, with Pastoral Assistant Barbara Wiebe officiating. The eulogist was Stephanie Jeffrey, the organist was Joyce Hattum and the ushers were Terry and Kevin Berger. The pallbearers were: Justin Jeffrey, Jeffrey Stumpf, Keith Belanger, Mike Osborn, Tracy Lavigne and Erin Osborn. An Honor guard was formed by Members of the Royal Canadian Legion. The honorary pallbearers were "All those that were close to him". James is survived by his wife Bessie Jeffrey and long time special friend Dorothy Noble; son James M. Jeffrey; daughter Joanne Stumpf (Marvin), Craig (Phylis) Jeffrey, Marilyn Jeffrey, Mark (Diane) Jeffrey; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; three sisters: Elsie, Lilian and Joyce and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Annie Jeffrey; a son Boyd Jeffrey; a grandson Murray Jeffrey and two sisters Rita and Stella. James was born December 10, 1922 to John and Annie Jeffrey in Wapella, SK. he grew up on the farm. Later at the age of 17, he went to St. Catherines, OT, where he worked as a Plater's apprentice. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1943 and served in the U.K. and Continental Europe during WWII. He then served for six month as a peace keeping with the Regina Rifles Regiment. When he returned home he worked in construction and telephone until returning to the family farm. Over the years Wylie created the Flying J. Ranch and then retired to Swift Current in 80's. Wylie loved to dance, play golf fishing, woodworking and curling. He will be remembered for working hard and playing hard. He believed in the gifts God gave him, loved his family and believed that we should all make the very best of the life we have. "You only get one chance to make things good for your family and friends." Dad we will miss your laughter, your sense of humor and you will be missed by all who loved you, your kids, companion, family, friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
