Charlotte Irene Barron (December 15, 1930-February 25, 2012) – Irene Barron 81, of Pictou and formerly of River John, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday February 25, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Medford, N.S. she was the daughter of the late Charles and Roxie A. (Parker) Barron. Irene was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a leading Air Woman. Over the years she lived in many different areas in the province, plus Ontario. Irene was a dedicated active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Art) Reid, Centreville, N.S.; Mildred “Millie” (David) Dewar, Anderson, Indiana; Mary Urquhart, Truro; Heather (David) Matthews, Wentworth Valley; sons, Charles (Lorraine) Gower, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON; Ian (Mariko) Gower, Calgary, AB; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Predeceased by granddaughter Kathryn Louise Fisher; brother, Leon and sister, Mary Rose in infancy. A public graveside service was held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Medford Cemetery, Medford, N.S.
