It is with great sadness that the family of the late Martha Symes (nee Sutton) announces her passing on Sunday June 3, at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 88 years. Born at Push Through, NL Martha was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Elizabeth Sutton. Martha was also predeceased by her husband Emmanuel Symes in 1990, son Frank in June of 1952, son in law Hubert Bungay, and brother William (Stella) Sutton. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her children; Annie of Moncton NB, Melita (Donald) Delaney Stephenville, Alvin (Lillian) Symes Timberlea NS, Rosalie (Gordon) Escott Roache's Line NL, Wayne (Rose) Symes Edmonton, Jocelyn Bryne (Stephen) Port aux Basques. 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister Emily of Ontario, and a large circle of extended family and many friends. To honor Martha's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration of her life took place on Wednesday June 6, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Hannah Dicks. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
