HANEY, DOUGLAS - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Leo Haney of Langley, British Columbia on 1 June 2012. Doug was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on October 3, 1935 to William Leo and Clare Agnes Haney. In 1954 Doug graduated from St Vincent’s Boy’s High School, Saint John and attended St. Mary’s University, Halifax where he was an officer cadet. In 1967 Doug went to work for the Health and Welfare Canada where he stayed until he retired in 1996. In 1974 the family moved to Ottawa where they still have many friends and family. In 2000, Doug and Donna moved to Langley to be close to their sons who were now living in British Columbia. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Donna, their two children, Michael (Rosa Anna), Mark and their five grandchildren, Megan, Alessia, Annelise, Brittany and Gabriel as well as his brothers, Jack and Conrad, and sister Margaret; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Prayer Services will be held for Doug at 8:00 pm on 6 June at St Nicholas Catholic Church, 20675 87th Avenue in Langley. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on 7 June at St Nicholas Catholic Church. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
