Passed on: June 5th, 2012

Apollonia Bernadette Margaret Schlosser, (nee Pratchler) known to family and friends as Polly, passed away on June 5th 2012, at the age of 77, in Fort St. John. Polly was born to Maria and John Pratchler on November 29th, 1934 on the family farm outside of Muenster, Saskatchewan.

On October 6th, 1954, she married JB (Joseph Bernard) Schlosser. Polly moved with her husband and infant son
Joseph to Fort St. John in April 1958 and immediately fell in love with the Peace River Area. With Polly’s pioneering spirit and her love of gardening, she soon made a name for herself by selling
bedding plants from their home in Grandhaven. She proved that almost anything could grow in Fort St. John, from apple trees to delicate perennials.

After raising her five children she set out to travel the north, working as a cook in restaurants from Yellowknife to Hay River, as well as traveling to the places her children worked such as Iqaluit and Vancouver Island.

Health problems soon brought her back home where she continued gardening and selling her home made goods at the Fort St. John Farmer’s Market.

Polly is predeceased by her husband JB Schlosser on September 6, 1978 and her oldest son Joseph (Lorna) on March 8, 2009. Lovingly remembered by her children David (Anne), Bernadette (Bruce), Richard (Mary) and Brian (Michelle) and grandchildren Joshua, Matthew, Timothy, Andrew, Courtney
(Anthony), Heidi, Trail, Brandon, Adele (Mike) and Neil, and her greatest joy, her great granddaughters Dania, Madeline and Taylor.

Polly’s Celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 11th at 2:00pm from the Mennonite Brethren Church. If so desired condolences may be forwarded through www.hamresfuneral.com

Memorial Donations in Polly’s name can be made to B.C. Children’s Hospital or your charity of choice.
