The death occurred peacefully at Toronto, Ont., on Monday, June 4, 2012, of George Michael O’Connor, in his 85th year. George was born in Kildare, P.E.I., to his late parents, Emmett and Ruth (nee McIntyre) O’Connor. Beloved husband of Anita (nee Laughlin) O’Connor and loving father of Mary-Ruth (David) Sturch of Oshawa, Ont., and Paul (Penny) O’Connor of Barrie, Ont. Survived by his sisters Helen Toye of Lynn, Mass., U.S.A., Agnes (Edward) Laughlin of Brantford, Ont., and Gertrude Gerard of Richmond Hill, Ont. Also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law: Claire Matthews, Theresa Johnson, Urban (Mary) Laughlin and Allison Laughlin. George will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and good friends. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brothers Frank, Leo, Roland and Cyril O’Connor, his sisters Mary and Alice Foley and the following brothers and sisters-in-law: Errol (Margaret) Laughlin, Helen Mahood, Harold Matthews, John Johnson, Joe and Howard Foley. Resting at the Newediuk Funeral Home, 2058 Kipling Ave., Toronto, Ont. until Monday, June 11, where visitation will take place from 2–4 and 6–9 p.m. Prayers and music at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be held at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, on Friday, June 15, from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m., then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for a funeral mass on Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m. Interment to take place at the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Alberton. Memorial donations in George’s memory to Parkdale Golden Age Foundation, 27 Roncesvalles Ave., Suite 401, Toronto, Ont., M6R 2K4, would be greatly appreciated.
