With heavy hearts and deep sadness we the family announce the passing of Lloyd McEwen, on Saturday June 9, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Dorchester, NB, he was the son of the late William and Doris (Pickles) McEwen.
Lloyd was a civil engineer and was employed with Acres Consulting for many years. He also worked overseas in Malaysia for CIDA, and until his retirement, he worked with the Public works for Membertou.
He was a member of First United Church, the masons and an honorary member of the Canada Federation of University Women. He enjoyed square and round dancing, playing bridge, attending church and his Lionel Electric trains.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Evanel ‘Ev’ (Guest) McEwen; children, William McEwen, Dartmouth, Ronald McEwen, Toronto, Kathryn McEwen, Canmore, Alberta; siblings, Jean McEwen, North Vancouver, BC, Gregory McEwen, Porters Lake.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert (Linda) Guest; niece, Amanda; nephews, Connor and Colton; cousins, Dr. John Swain, Rednael Swain, Creighton Pickles, Wesley Pickles, as well as the extended McEwen family, Charles, Susan, David and Joy.
Visitation will take place Tuesday June 12, 2012 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexanedra St., Sydney from 2- 4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday June 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wade Reppart officiating.
Interment to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
