Anne Margaret Carey - 97, formerly of Hantsport, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Avondale, Hants County, she was the daughter of the late Manson and Irene (Boyd) Sanford. Throughout her working career, she had been employed in retail sales and had owned and operated a confectionary store in Hantsport. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society of Avonport and was a Brownie leader. She played the organ for many years in the Avonport and Hantsport churches as well as school concerts and was an accompanist for the Kings County Music Festival. She is survived by a son-in-law, Wayne Reeves, Gaspereau; a step-daughter, Edith Kenney, Wolfville; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Carey; a daughter, Janis Reeves; a step-daughter, Mauretia Dunfield; step-sons, Orren and Earl; a sister, Fredia Andrews; brothers, Avon, Morien and Oris; a grandson Bill Carey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in the Avonport Baptist Church, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial took place in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in memory may be made to the Avonport Baptist Church, the Hantsport United Church or the charity of your choice.
