Beverley Lawrence Eaton - 94, of New Minas, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, he was the adopted son of the late Charles and Laliegh (DeWolfe) Eaton. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the Royal Canadian Engineers for 6 years. Following the war, he worked with F.W. Robinson for 10 years and then with Canada Post for 26 years, from where he retired. Active in his community, Bev was a former member of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department, where he was involved with the band, a past president of the Minas 50 Plus Club, a Cub leader and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He is survived by a son, Lawrence “Larry” (Cathy) Eaton, Kentville; two step-daughters, Shirley (Earle) Mount and Carolyn Gouthro; five step-sons, William “Bill” (Barbara) Graves, Donald “Don” (Pam) Graves, Ralph (Dorina) Graves, Eric (Joanne) Gates and Michael Gates; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Eaton; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Edria Harvie; his second wife, the former Margaret Palmeter; two sons, Grant “Lloyd” and Douglas “Doug”. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. A reception followed in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Michael Mulherin and the staff of Medical Extension at Valley Regional Hospital and the homecare workers of Careforce Health Services. As well, thank you to special friends and assistants, Donna Walker and Margot Desormeau. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
