H. “Allison” Borden - 87, formerly of Sheffield Mills, Kings County, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 8, 2012 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Canning on August 9, 1924, and living all of his life in Sheffield Mills, he was the son of the late Harry and Eva (Newcombe) Borden. He owned and operated his farm from a very early age until the mid 1970’s and after retiring from farming, was employed by Avon Valley Foods and Rooney’s Bus Transportation Company. He enjoyed his bus driving days and always had lots of “Bus Stories” to tell. He also loved going to the cottage in Halls Harbour as well as his motor home trips to Florida and across Canada. Allison is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Wayne) Gibbons, New Minas; a son, Michael, Mississauga, Ontario; a grandson, Kyle Townsend, Calgary, Alberta; step grandchildren, John Gibbons, New Minas; Chris (Christine) Gibbons, Halifax; Jennifer (Wil) Kerr-Gibbons MacLeod, Halifax; step great grandchildren, Dakota, Abby, MacKenzie, Connor, Cate, Alexander and Sophia; sisters, Kay (Ken) Neary, Lindsay, Ontario and Gertrude Russell, Woodville; sisters-in-law, Leah Langille, Halifax and Vilda Parker, Halls Harbour; brother-in-law, Owen Roscoe, Jordan Falls; special friend, Myrtis Bennett, Kentville. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle (Roscoe); brother, Gerald; brothers-in-law, Leo Russell, Sonny Pineo, Frederick Parker and Arthur Langille; sister-in-law, Lorna Roscoe. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet, Chaplain officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
