Sad was the parting, no one can tell,
So sudden on earth the sorrow fell,
The blow was hard, the shock severe,
To part with one I loved so dear.
Dearer still as years depart,
His memory lives within my heart.

Months have grown day by day,
It’s now a year since he went away,
Thoughts are full and hearts do weigh,
Without him here to share the way,
Time may dull the hand of fate,
Memory forever recalls the date.
