a retired carpenter of Upper Island Cove passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Mr. Coombs was 73 years old. He leaves to mourn his loving family: loving wife of 50 years Florence (Florie) Coombs; adoring children: Carol (Paul) Smith and Derek Coombs (Pam Dawe); precious granddaughter Brooklyn Smith; mother Clara Coombs; brothers: Albert (Greta) Coombs and Henry (Marie) Coombs; brothers and sisters-in-law: Minnie Parsons, Roland (Marie) Stone, Beth (Gord) Taylor and Olive Stone; special aunt Marjorie Bennett. Predeceased by father John Coombs; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ted Parsons, Grace (Reg) Sheppard and Gord (Olive) Stone. The funeral service will take place at St. Peter's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Upper Island Cove, on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, 2 p.m. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, Cranes Road, Upper Island Cove, on Monday & Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m., Wednesday 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Restoration Fund or a charity of one's choice.
