Passed in: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: June 9th, 2012

With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Clarence Joseph Marley on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Tena Marley.
He was an exceptional athlete. A great ball player, one of the best catchers in the Nova Scotia senior baseball league. Active in gentlemen’s hockey league; a shuffleboard champion and in later years an excellent golfer. He will also be remembered as an encouraging coach.
A truck driver all of his life, he drove for Eastern Transport, among others. After leaving Cape Breton, he continued his career by starting his own courier business.
Clarence leaves to mourn his pride and joy, son, Grant (Rachel), Ottawa, Ont.; best friend and partner, Estelle Descarie and her daughter, Josee; sisters, Theresa Marley, Sydney, Barbara Duffy, Trenton, MI. Alice (Bill) Theriault, Digby, Geraldine (Will) Rose, Sydney, and only brother, Russell (Tillie), Sydney. Along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He had a great sense of humour and a wonderful infectious smile. Those brown eyes sparkled with mischief and he loved nothing better than to tease.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday June 20, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church, George Street, Sydney with Fr. Anthony O’Connor officiating.
