Cyril Sterling "Cy" Singleton
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of Cyril (Cy) Singleton at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, June 14, 2012 after losing a long hard battle with cancer for 11 years.
Cy is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 5 years, Lorraine McMillan; Lorraine's children, Milene Pittman (Paul) and their children Rogan and Catie of Yarmouth, N.S.; Cy's children Leslie Cantelo of Murray Harbour, PE, grandson Ian Cantelo (Alana) of Alberta and Cy's son Allan, Calgary, Alberta along with Cy's mother Sarah "Sally" Singleton of Charlottetown; brother Eric (Mary) of Stratford; and sister Deborah Hodson (Duane), Johnstons River. Cy was predeceased by his father Lester.
Cy joined the Canadian Provost Corp. in 1959 and served for several years. He also served as a member of the RCMP, attaining the rank of corporal. Cy's last years were not only spent trying to defeat cancer. He spent time doing what he loved the most. He and Lorraine were both music lovers - Cy playing his guitar and singing while Lorraine accompanied him on piano. They volunteered entertaining seniors in nursing homes. Both were members of the Queen's County Fiddlers.
No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Cy will be laid to rest at the Wood Islands Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the P.E.I. Cancer Treatment Centre of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
