New Glasgow - Mary Gladys “Gladdie” Morrison, 90, formerly of Victoria Ave., West Side, New Glasgow, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 in the Ivy Terrace Nursing Home, Trenton.
Born in Thorburn, she was the youngest of nine, to the late Finlay Duncan and Maggie Belle (Plumb) MacDonald.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews who have fond memories of her carefree and cheerful manner. She was predeceased by her husband: James S. Morrison; brothers: Sandy (Agnes), New Glasgow; Herbie (Violet); Ricker, both of Thorburn; Donald (Sue), New Glasgow/Halifax; sisters: Catherine (Jack) Fraser, New Glasgow; Barbara (Duke) MacDougall, Thorburn; Marion (Reg) Robertson, Moncton, NB; Margaret Isabelle (at a young age), Thorburn.
An avid sports fan, and Ladies Bowling Champion, she enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, music, dancing and conversation. She was a former employee of the Thorburn Post Office, the Moncton Airport, C.P. Smith and U.I.C. office in New Glasgow. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, Ladies’ Aid and Elsie MacKay Atlantic Mission Society. Gladys was a former resident of High Crest Place, New Glasgow and Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, before moving to Ivy Terrace in February. She is now reunited with her loved ones in Heaven. Visitation from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 pm Tuesday, June 19, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the M.S. Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
