It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Daniel Francis Gouthro of Glace Bay.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Frank Gouthro and the late Mary (MacDonald) Gouthro.
Dan was employed with Glace Bay Bus Co., and Transit Cape Breton.
He loved to fish, hunt and also enjoyed cooking. Dan was a very kind and generous man whose passing will leave a void in the lives of many. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
Dan leaves to mourn his very special friend Cathy McNeil and his buddy Devon; sisters, Alice (Larry Shaubel), Port Colborne, Ont., Georgina MacDonald, Etobicoke, Ont., Frances (Pius McIntyre), Mirimichi, N.B., Karen, Ontario; brothers, Tommy (Linda), Jimmy (Veronica), Allan, all of Glace Bay; George, Ontario, Richard, Glace Bay; also many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly.
Besides his mother, Dan was predeceased by his daughter Tammy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Association, Cape Breton Island Chapter.
