Donald Michael ‘Donnie’ Campbell passed away on June 15, 2012, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.
Donnie, born in Sydney and a member of Sacred Heart parish, was a son of the late Archie and Violet (Burns) Campbell.
Donnie began working at a very young age and in later years, became a well-known car salesman in Sydney until an accident resulted in early retirement. Donnie thoroughly enjoyed visits from his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish the memory of their ‘Poppy.’ He was a true sports fan and also kept up a lively interest in politics during his retirement years.
Donnie is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Blanch (MacDonald); his five sons, Michael, (Rosemarie), Leo (Darlene), Jimmy (Michelle), Blain (Laura) and Karl (Tanya); 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Barry, Alert Bay, B.C.; sisters, Cathy (Roman) Fedurko, Toronto, and Dolores (John) Campbell, Sydney; sisters-in-law, Beryl Burke and Jessie MacDougall, Sydney; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
Besides his parents, Donnie was predeceased by brothers, Jimmie and Pat.
