It’s with deep sadness that the family of Raymond Blois Rushton announces his passing on June 15. 2012. Ray has been reunited with his parents, Abartha and Bertha Rushton (nee: Cochrane); his first wife of 49 years, Marian Elizabeth (nee: MacKay); second wife Katherine Langille; infant daughter Linda; sons Raymond Logan and Bryce Lawrence and grand daughter Sandi Gail; his favorite and only sister Ruthene Faulkner; and brothers Lloyd, Cecil, Ralph, and Bill. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Pearl (nee: Upham); daughters Mary (Art), Hilda, Sharon (Ed), Judy (Patrick) and Geraldine; his sons Reg (Yvonne), Charles (Robert), Ralph (Betty June), and Donnie (Darlene); stepchildren Sharon Hulme and Randy Upham; and his brothers Earl and Stan. He also leaves behind, 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ray was born and raised in Montrose where he attended school. He served overseas in World War II where he was injured and received a medical discharge. Ray worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator at the Halifax International Airport. He took early retirement due to a reoccurring back problem. Ray and his family lived in Lantz for many years until he and his first wife Marion moved to Truro where he lived at the time of his passing. Ray loved his children dearly and always said he wished he had 50 children. Ray was a very honest and hard-working man who would do anything for anyone in need. Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to his wife Pearl for taking such great care of their father over the past 8 years. They would also like to thank the staff at Wynn Park Villa. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service at 1:45 p.m. followed immediately by a celebration of Ray’s life at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Brian DeLong officiating. Private interment in Portaupique Cemetery. The family is requesting that instead of flowers you make a donation to the Alzheimer Society.
