Helen Mildred (MacDonald) MacKean of Stellarton, formerly of Island East River, Nova Scotia, born on September 26, 1921, passed away peacefully at 90 years of age on June 15, 2012 at the Aberdeen Hospital.
Predeceased by her husband Cecil McCurdy MacKean and their daughter Margaret Nancy (MacKean) Lynch. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law Edgar MacKean and Clifford MacKean and sisters-in-law Margaret (MacKean) Loveridge and Alice MacKean.
She is survived by sister-in-law Nan MacKean of New Glasgow and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Helen was the only child of Christena (Fraser) MacDonald and Hugh Howard MacDonald growing up and residing in Riverton and Eureka.
Helen was known for her passion for flowers and beautiful gardens, her love for family and friends, and her meticulous scrap booking and record keeping. She was an avid crib player and bowler and played both right up to her 89th year. She will be dearly missed by all.
There will be no visitation or memorial service at the request of the deceased. A private family committal service will be held at a later date at the Riverton Cemetery, Riverton, Pictou County.
No flowers by request.
