It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Adrian Boone, age 77, of Dominion. Addie passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012, at his home, due to illness the past seven months.
Born in Dominion, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Margaret (McPhee) Boone.
Addie was a plumber/pipefitter by trade and worked for many years at the heavy water plant.
Before becoming ill, Addie spent many days meeting his friends at the Dominion boardwalk. A quite man by nature, his greatest joy was when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit.
Addie leaves to mourn his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary (Marmaluk), who took special care of Addie during his illness; four sons, Ronnie, Kenny (Joanne), Dennis (Wilma), Blair (Debbie); brothers, Gilbert (Anne), Glace Bay, Francis (Lil), Alberta; sister, Pauline Kennedy, Dominion; and brother-in-law, Mike (Marion) Marmaluk, Sydney. Addie is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Shelly, Linda, Nicholas (Bhreagh), Nathan, Breagh, Adria, Kyle, Kassie, Saxon, Madison and three great-grandchildren, Cohen, Taryn, Jaxon; and godchild, Katherine Shaw.
Besides his parents, Addie was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie (Bernie) McPhee, three brothers in infancy and brother-in-law, David Kennedy.
In honouring Addie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Bridgeport. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
No flowers by request. Donations in Addie’s memory may be made to palliative care or the VON.
