Christine Chisholm, 94, formerly of No. 11 and MacLeod’s Road, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Glace Bay Hospital, with her loving husband of 60 years, Bill by her side.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Lauchlin and Elizabeth Kirkby (Gilholm) MacLeod.
Chris was the last surviving member of her family.
In her younger years, Chris dabbled in carpentry and painting and she also loved to read, do crosswords and play card games on her computer and she really enjoyed her shopping trips with her girls. Mom loved being a grandmother and a great-grandmother.
Chris will be sadly missed by her devoted husband, Bill, with whom she would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in December; and by her daughters, Elizabeth, Saint John, N.B., Jacqueline (Paul Daniels), Cold Lake, Alta., and Grace (Tom LeCreux), Pictou County. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Christine and Phillip (Alina) Daniels and Miranda (Mike) and Sarah LeCreux and her great-grandchildren, Ty, Brydon, Grace Ann and special nieces and nephews, especially the Cape Breton crew.
She was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Donald, Melvin, John ‘Jack,’ Bill, Raymond, Art and sisters, Anna, and Dorothy ‘Toots, and special nephew, Bobby.
Visitation for Chris will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Following the visitation, cremation will take place. Funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church at 11 a.m., Thursday with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating and following the reception, interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
