Michael Eric “Mike” Parnell - 66, of Lower Sackville, passed away suddenly Saturday, June 16, 2012 at home. Born in Liverpool, Queens County, he was a son of the late Malcolm E. and Elizabeth H. (McKinnon) Parnell. He retired in 2011 from the Atlantic Superstore in Bedford. He enjoyed tole painting which he sold at various craft markets throughout the Maritimes. He also did other various crafts, was an avid sports fan, and loved pets (especially cats). Mike was an antique car enthusiast having owned many antique cars and presently drove his own 1964 Ford Thunderbird. He is survived by his wife the former Constance “Connie” Pineo; a sister, Sharon Robinson, Dartmouth; a brother, Larry (companion Lorraine), Brockville, Ontario; mother-in-law, Ethel Pineo, Lower Sackville; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (Wade) Hingley, Barrie, Ontario; Darlene (Richard) Jaeschke, Lower Sackville; Jane (Greg) Lockwood, Hatchet Lake; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. At Mike’s request, there was no visitation. A celebration of Mike’s life was held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, followed by a reception. Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. A private family burial took place in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. or a charity of your choice.
