Marian Lorraine McGowan, 97 of Dartmouth formerly of Sydney, passed away peacefully June 18, 2012 in the QEII.
She was the daughter of the late Donald Gordon and Anna (MacLean) Kerr.
She was born in Sydney Mines and at an early age, she moved to Westmount with her parents. In 1939, she married Albert McGowan and she was active in many groups at Bethel Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School & was a long time member of the Ladies Evening Guild.
Her greatest enjoyment and pride were her three grandchildren and most recently her four great-grandchildren.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Jacob) Bondt, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Karen MacDonald, Sydney, Graham (Laura) Bondt, Natalie (Jason) Walker and great-grandchildren, Hailey, Logan & Noah Walker and Fletcher Bondt, all of Dartmouth.
She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Nancy MacDonald; sister Beulah and brother, James Kerr.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Donald K. Walker & Wayne Weatherbee.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Sydney Memorial Chapel.
