Passed peacefully away on June 19, 2012, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Placentia, in the presence of her family, Betty Spurvey, age 93, formerly of Fox Harbour and Red Island. Predeceased by her husband James in 2000, daughters-in-law Pauline in 1986 (Anthony) and Donna in 2009 (Cyril). Leaving to mourn with beautiful memories, her children: Anthony, Carmelita Pittman (Phonse), William (Hilda Pittman), Jeanette Beazley (Guy) and Cyril (Mary Ricks); 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers: Patrick (Nellie) Carroll and Cyril (Margaret) Carroll; special nephew and niece Matt Spurvey and Rita (Joe Kerrivan); as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia, on Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, June 23rd at 2 p.m. from Sacred Heart Church, Placentia, with interment at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
