It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our father Donald Louis Antonello at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Friday, June 22, 2012.
Born 1928 in Sydney, Donald was the son of the late Louis Antonello and Mary (Rose) Antonello.
Donald was predeceased by his wife, Peggy (MacDougall), daughter, Donna (Savoy), son-in-law, (Steve Benoit), sister, Lois Marinelli.
Donnie is survived by his daughters, Dana (Jeff Pawluck), Windsor, Ont., and Peggy (Joe MacDougall), Cole Harbour, and son-in-law, Charles Savoy; grandfather to Taylor, Mitchell and Emily Benoit and Charley Savoy.
Brothers, Maurice (Snookes), Alden (Lillian), Pius (Flo), all of Sydney; sisters, Doris (Bob), Ontario, and good friend, Glenda Gregory of Sydney.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish. Donald was employed for 42 years at the Sydney Steel Plant employed as a millwright. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, skating, wine making and loved playing cards with his brothers and many friends.
Visitation will be held, Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church, Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. There will be a reception to follow after the service. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
