It is with broken hearts, that we regrettably announce the sudden passing of Willis ‘Willie’ Detienne of 180 Ling St., New Waterford, as the result of a motor bike accident on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
Born in New Waterford, Willie was the son of the late Damien and Elsie (Wilcox) Detienne.
Willie was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford. Willie had a very relaxed nature and a great passion for taking walks on the shoreline. He was also a great animal lover.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Willie (Krista), Toronto; two brothers, Jimmy (Kay), John (Karen); two sisters, Darlene (Charles), Deloris (Lenny), all in New Waterford. Willie is also survived by his partner, Kim Houston-MacKinnon, Sherrie Copan — mother of his son, and by a special brother-in-law and friend, Mergie Campbell. Also left to mourn are several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, a cousin and his cat, Patrick.
Besides his parents, Willie was predeceased by a sister, Diane Campbell, two brothers, Damien and Leo.
No visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in New Waterford. The funeral service to celebrate Willie’s life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Interment to follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with his parents. All are invited to Calvin Hall for a reception.
As an expression of sympathy for Willie, memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
