Dorothy Barbara MacKinnon passed away peacefully on June 22, 2012 at Chilliwack Hospital at the age of 82 years.
Dorothy married her childhood sweetheart Bud MacKinnon on January 18, 1952. Bud joined the army and they moved to Chilliwack where they raised their two daughters and met their many life-long friends. Dorothy managed the Dogwood Den Lounge on the Chilliwack Army Base for many years, was a homemaker and support to her husband in all his endeavors.
Nothing was as important to her than her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Bonnie (Bill) Johnson of Sackville, NB and Carol “Babe” (Ron) Derksen of Chilliwack, BC; grandchildren Angela van Erp, Sharla (Quinn) Glock, Brent Derksen, Deanna (Joshua) Davyduke, Tyrel Johnson, Alana Johnson, and Kyle Johnson; great grandchildren Joshua Glock, Adam Glock, Jaedyn van Erp, Taryn van Erp, Hudson Davyduke, Maddex Johnson, Mylah Melanson, Lexen Melanson, Ethan Johnson, and Rhys Johnson; and her brother Percy (Joyce) Tower of Sackville, NB.
She is predeceased by her husband Wallace (Bud) MacKinnon, her parents, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
A Memorial Tea will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Masonic Hall, 45905 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack. Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society; Heart and Stoke Foundation or the charity of choice.
