We regret to announce the passing of Adrian Bonnar, 78, on Monday June 25, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Little Pond on July 1, 1933, Adrian was the son of the late John James and Bertha (Miller) Bonnar. He was a member of St. Joseph parish, Bras d’Or.
Adrian loved the ocean, and he also loved to cook. One of his favourite pastimes was watching western movies.
He is survived by his children, John (Judy) Bonnar, Glace Bay, Alice (Earl) Boutilier, Florence, Bernie (Deborah), North Sydney, Darlene (Glen) Stewart, North Sydney, David (Lisa) Bonnar, Long Island, Ann (Wayne) Young, Boularderie and his sons at heart, Robert (Laurel) (Victoria) and John (Jacqueline). Also left to mourn are grandchildren, Robert (Laurel), Theresa, Christopher, Brittany, Courtney, Aaron, Shania, Kenny, Matthew and Chelsea; brothers, Kenny, Danny, Francis and Ronald and sisters, Florence Debbie, Jean, Helen and Kathy.
Besides his parents, Adrian was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence (Stubbert) Bonnar and brothers, Raymond, Kayward and Edward.
Adrian’s family would like extend special thanks to the Northside Guest Home, the Renal Dialysis Unit, Billy Gilliam and EHS, for their kindness and compassion over the years. Thanks also to Dr. Michel McKeough and the staff of 5 East, Northside General Hospital.
Visitation for Adrian Bonnar will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Wednesday) June 27, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass celebrating his life will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Adrian’s memory may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home, 11 Queen St., North Sydney.
