Lorna Vance
VANCE, LORNA JOYCE - The passing of Lorna J. Vance, wife of the late Orville T. Vance, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Born on March 22, 1930 in Kingsclear, NB, she was a daughter of the late Coburn and Ella (McKay) Kelly. Lorna came to Harvey in 1946, where she took a job at the Harvey Creamery. She married in 1949, then returned to work, this time at the Harvey Community Hospital in 1963. She worked there until her retirement in 1993. Lorna is survived by a daughter, Debra Swan (Dwight), Smithfield, NB; a son, Royce Vance (Louise Mason), Mactaquac, NB; two grandsons, Jamey Swan, Fredericton, NB and Ryan Swan, Smithfield, NB; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Swan and Hannah Rose Swan, both of Fredericton, NB; two nieces, Linda Aitken (Leslie), Kingsclear, NB and Bonnie Aitken, Yarmouth, NS; a special cousin Alta Harvey, Kingsclear, NB and several other cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; a sister, Ruby M. Kitchen and a brother, Ersel Kelly.
In keeping with Lorna’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family grave side service will be held at the Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Special thanks to the nurses in DECH Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and excellent care. Thank you to Dr. Debra Gowan for her professional and compassionate care.
