Irene Marjorie Pollock (Marj) was born on a farm near Mortlach, Saskatchewan, on June 29th,1913. On June 24, 2012, Marj’s family awoke excited, thinking that they were going to her 99th birthday celebration - only to find out that she wasn’t going to be there. She peacefully departed this world from the Peninsula Retirement Resort in Surrey at 5:00am that morning. The family would like everyone to know how much she was loved and cherished and that she was an inspiration to all. She leaves two daughters, Marilyn Poole and Elaine Wall (Terry), daughter-in-law Janet Pollock, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Roy, son Randy, grandson Kevin Wall, sisters Dolly Thurston, Jessie Ellard and Hazel Clark and brothers Eddie Clark and Dick Clark. Marj and Roy lived in Mortlach for 54 years, then Sundre, Alberta where they ranched, raising registered Herefords. They moved to Surrey where they continued to raise and show registered Herefords. Later, they retired to White Rock. After Roy passed away, Marj moved to the Peninsula where she happily lived for six years. Recently, Marj said, “I guess I am the last remaining original resident of my generation (from Mortlach). A memorial service was held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Home, 14831 - 28 Ave., Surrey, BC, on Friday June 29th at 1:00 pm. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
