Nov. 15th, 1917 – June 27th, 2012. Gertrude (Gertie) passed to her eternal rest on Wednesday June 27th, 2012, after a short stay at the Health Sciences in St. John’s, NL. She is predeceased by her loving husband Jim and members of her own family: her sisters Anne, Mary, Gen, her brothers: Jack, Dennis (Trifina), Leo and Gerald. She leaves to mourn three sons: James (Sue), Craig (Johanne) and Ted; five grandchildren: Jamie, Brian and Craig, Patrick, and Christopher; one great- grandchild- Leanne. Also a large number of nephews and nieces as well as a large circle of friends – especially close to her were: Kay Murphy and Isabelle Holden. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish for many years, where she was an active member. She moved to Margaret’s Manor in Jan, 2010 and enjoyed her stay there. Her health deteriorated rapidly over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society. The family wishes to acknowledge and offer thanks to the staff of Health Sciences 4 North A as well as the staff at Margaret’s Manor and the care offered to Gertrude. Sue deserves an extra special thanks for her ever presence and attention to detail for mom during her life and more especially during her illness. Viewing will be at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, St. John’s, NL on Saturday, June 30th, from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday July 1st, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Church, Patrick Street, on Monday July 2nd, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with Fr. Dohey presiding. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
