Grace Marie Harris
Passed on: June 23rd, 2012
Her journey is now complete and she is finally home. Passed peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2012, with her loving family by her side, Grace Marie Harris (nee Miller), in her 90th year. Grace was born on Fogo Island on July 31, 1922 to Capt. Patrick Miller and Mary Agnes Carson. Grace graduated from Littledale College and was an active member of St. Patrick's Parish and the Catholic Women’s League. As busy as Mom always was with her family, she always had a meal, a cup of tea, or a bed for anyone who visited our home. Our Mom thoroughly enjoyed life, especially when she was surrounded by her six daughters, five sons, twenty-one grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her spirit for life was truly amazing. Many of our family and friends often referred to Mom as "Amazing Grace". Predeceased by her husband John Joseph Harris in 1993, infant daughter Carol Ann in 1951, her daughter Grace Marie in 1990, her grandsons: Jeremy Costello, 2004 and Paul Jason Kenny, 1978. Leaving to celebrate her life with many cherished memories are her daughters: Eleanor (Gerry Fitzpatrick), Edna, Karen (Carl Noftle), Mary (Glenn Squires), Brigdit (Robert Leger); her sons: Bill (Patricia), John (Darlene), Gerry (Debbie), Noel, Bryant (Tina); her twenty-one grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her brother Captain Patrick Miller Jr. (Leona), and brother-in-law Rick Harris (Geraldine). Grace also leaves with cherished memories many nieces, nephews and a number of lifetime friends including special caregivers: Helen Penton and lifetime family friend Lucy Roper. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road. Visitation on Monday, June 25, from 7-9 p.m. & Tuesday, June 26, 2-5 p.m., 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday, June 27, 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Cremation to follow.
