Gordon Richardson

RICHARDSON, GORDON BOYD - 1946 - 2012 - Gordon Richardson passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton on July 1, 2012 after a heart attack. Born and raised in Magog, Quebec, he was the son of the late Julius and Betty Richardson. Upon graduation from Acadia University and a brief career as a teacher and guidance counselor, he graduated from UNB with a Master's degree in Education. After working with the Iowa Testing Programs and studying towards a PhD at the University of Iowa on a Canada Council Fellowship, he returned to Canada to work at the Ontario Institute for studies in Education. He returned to New Brunswick to work on the NB Higher Education Commission. He graduated from UNB with a Masters in Computer Science and worked for several years in the Computer Science Department at UNB in Fredericton. Following this, he moved to Moncton where he was employed at OAO Technologies, and finished his career working on contracts in the United States, his last being a 4 year contract at Lowe's in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. While in Fredericton, Gordon served as a member of the District 18 School Board and he was an active member of the Greenwood Drive United Baptist Church. He also performed with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society in Fredericton. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moncton. He will be sadly missed by his wife Arlene (Burgess), two sons Kevin (Trudy) of Saint John, New Brunswick, and Mark of Toronto, Ontario, daughter Kelly Ames (Rick) and granddaughter Isabelle of Stoney Creek, Ontario, brother Kenneth and nephew Kyle of Guelph, Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents and an infant daughter Kathryn.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, July 5 from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church Moncton. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donation may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
