We regret to announce the passing of Archie MacNeil, 86, of Sydney Mines, on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief illness.
Born in Sydney Mines on April 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret (MacInnis) MacNeil. He was a lifelong resident of Sydney Mines and a member of St. Pius X parish and St. Pius X Men’s Club for several years.
Archie worked for many years at the Point Edward Naval Base. He also worked at Canada Post as a letter carrier in Sydney and later in Sydney Mines, retiring in 1988.
He leaves behind to mourn his loving wife, Thelma (Gillis); his daughter, Jennifer at home and her boyfriend, Scott Roberts, Howie Centre.
Besides his parents, Archie was predeceased by his brother, Joseph MacNeil and his half-sister, Sara MacIntyre.
There will be no visitation or service by request. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, at a later date.
