It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the loss of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many, George Kevin Slade, who passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Feb. 4, 1961, in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Clarence and Jeanette (Donovan) Slade.
An avid jokester, George took great pride in making family and friends laugh all the time; you would never know what he would come up with next. He lived everyday for the love of his life, Kathleen and their four children. You could always find him in the yard cleaning, mowing and putting something out for sale.
George will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kathleen (Warren); children, Daniel (Trisha), Mitchell, Ontario, Gerry (Rachel), Billy and Nicole Campbell (Joel), all of Glace Bay; brothers, Con (Della), Sydney, Billy, Glace Bay, Dave (Sandra), Waterloo, Victor (Ann Marie), Kitchener, Blair (Tanya), Glace Bay; sisters, Debbie (Roger), Glace Bay, and Angel (Michael), Kitchener; three grandchildren, Elijah, Abby and Sammy; 17 nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
Memorial donations in George’s memory may be made to the Kingdom Hall.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the ICU units of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Glace Bay.
