DENTON, Robert Archibald “Bob” – 60, Brookfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday evening, July 8, 2012, at home. Born February 21, 1952, in Digby, he was a son of the late Chipman and Audrey (Ellis) Denton and stepson of the late Esther (Burke) Denton. Bob was employed with Lafarge Canada where he worked until ill health forced him to take a leave of absence in February 2012. He had a passion for muscle cars, enjoyed going to the car shows and cruise nights. A lengthy process and achievement for Bob was the rebuilding of the 1969 Camaro for which he took to numerous car shows and won many awards. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He cherished his family and the special times that they all shared. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Erma (Conrad); brothers, Phillip (Dawn) Denton, Paul (Catherine) Denton, Truro; children, Debbie (Hank) Fuchs, Burlington, Ontario; Cindy (Murray) Clarke, Amherst; Melanie (Mike) Keith, Truro; grandchildren, Jillian, Alexander, Taylor, Travis, Morgan, Hannah; nieces, Breanna, Rebecca “Becky”, Grace; nephews, Andrew, Eric; many other extended family and friends who have been such a great support to Bob and his family during his illness. Along with his parents and stepmother, Bob was predeceased by his son, Robert John in infancy. Thanks are extended to the Palliative Care Team of Colchester Regional Hospital and VON Home Care Team, especially Dr. David Henderson, Lisa Wilson and Michael Clarke. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Bob’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2012, Reverend Larry Harrison officiating. Reception will follow. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Bob’s memory to Palliative Care Unit (Colchester Regional Hospital) or a charity of choice are welcomed.
