John Carl Porter, age 83, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Windsor Elms Village, Town Road, Falmouth. Born on September 22, 1928, in Hantsport, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the Leslie “Les” and Laura (Dickson) Porter. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Jessie Lorraine Quinn; his only daughter, Joy (Sam) Carnegie, Ottawa, Ont.; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sandra) Carnegie, Ottawa, Ont.; Jonathan (Jill) Carnegie, Ottawa, Ont.; Misty and Tammy in Greenville, Tenn., USA; 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Irvin (Thelma) Porter, Falmouth; Bill Porter, Falmouth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Harry John Porter; brothers, Charles “Dick”, Leslie “Les” and Montson “Mont” Porter. Interment was held 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Town Road, Falmouth. Donations in memory of John were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
