Thomas Kerkhoven
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the adventurous life of Tom Kerkhoven. A life that began in the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and followed a path from there to Holland, Ontario, Curacao and ultimately to his beloved Cape Breton.
Tom so enjoyed this community - his daily interactions with good folks at Partridge Landing and in Baddeck. He cherished his involvement with the Lions, the Free Wheelers, the Middle River Seniors, and the Baddeck Barnacles.
Tom passed away peacefully at home on December 25th after a courageous battle with cancer. In his own words, he “floated away on a sea of love”. He was surrounded by the love of his dear wife, Angie Kerkhoven nee Aucoin (Middle River); three beloved daughters Janiece, Nicoline and Carmen and their husbands, Tom Theodoru, Doug DeWitt and Waring Partridge; grandchildren, Jack Vautour, Cora and Benjamin Partridge and his dearest cousin, Rudolf Suermondt (Holland). Tom’s ashes will be scattered in the rock garden he lovingly designed and built at Partridge Landing.
Tom’s final wish? “Have one hell of a wake!” Please come share a laugh or a story at the Party in Celebration of Tom’s Life at Partridge Landing, 500 Big Harbour Rd., on Saturday, July 28, 2012 beginning at noon. Rain or shine. Park along the runway in front of the main house. Children are welcome and may want to bring their bathing suits for the sprinkler. BBQ buffet will be served.
